NINE-DAY NOVENA TO SAINT PIER GIORGIO FRASSATI & SAINT CARLO ACUTIS

Dearest Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati and Saint Carlo Acutis,

You lived your earthly lives with joy and courage, walking the path of holiness by serving the poor, the sick, and the needy. With deep faith and generous hearts, you showed the world how to love God above all things.

I turn to you with confidence and ask for your intercession before our loving Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, through the prayers of our Blessed Mother Mary and dear St. Joseph. Obtain for me the grace to follow your examples of immense faith, lively charity, deep humility, and profound love.

Please pray for me and present my petitions,

(mention your request),

if it be God’s holy will and for the good of my soul. With grateful heart, I thank you for your intercession and trust in the mercy of Jesus, who hears and answers all prayers.
Amen.

Say:
Pater Noster – Our Father.
Áve María – Hail Mary.
Glória Pátri – Glory be to the Father.

Common Questions

When are the feast days of Saints Frassati and Acutis, and when should I pray this novena?
Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati's feast day is July 4, the anniversary of his death, and Saint Carlo Acutis's feast day is October 12, the anniversary of his. The novena may be prayed in the nine days leading up to either feast, or at any time when seeking the intercession of these two young saints, especially for the sanctification of young people, conversion of family members, or growth in joyful Christian witness in the modern world.
Who was Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati?
Pier Giorgio Frassati (A.D. 1901-1925) was an Italian student, mountain climber, and member of the Lay Dominican Order who lived a brief life of intense charity, devotion, and joy. Born into a prominent family in Turin, he quietly gave away his money and time to the poor of his city even as he took part in Catholic social action and political life. He died at age 24 of poliomyelitis, likely contracted from the sick he served, and was canonized on September 7, A.D. 2025, after his beatification by Saint John Paul II in A.D. 1990.
Who was Saint Carlo Acutis?
Carlo Acutis (A.D. 1991-2006) was an Italian teenager known for his radiant faith, his daily devotion to the Eucharist, and his use of his computer skills to catalog Eucharistic miracles around the world in an online exhibition that has since traveled the globe. He died at age 15 of leukemia, offering his sufferings for the Pope and for the Church. He was canonized on September 7, A.D. 2025, alongside Pier Giorgio Frassati, becoming the first millennial to be raised to the altars.
Why are these two saints often venerated together?
Frassati and Acutis lived almost a century apart, yet both gave the Church a vivid witness that holiness is possible for young people in any age. Both loved the Eucharist; both showed deep practical charity; both faced suffering with extraordinary serenity and trust. By canonizing them on the same day in A.D. 2025, the Church offered today's youth two complementary patrons: one a young man of the early twentieth century in the mountains of Italy, the other a digital native of the early twenty-first century who carried the same Gospel into the modern world.
